Snapped Snag, Bentley Nature Preserve, Ellicott, New York

A snag cracked several feet above the ground, causing its top portion to fall over. It frames living trees in the Bentley Nature Preserve in Ellicott, New York. The preserve, formerly known as the Bentley Sanctuary, is now managed by the Chautauqua Watershed Conservancy and was a favorite birding site for naturalist Roger Tory Peterson.
