The period of maximum eclipse ends as the moon moves away from the solar disk during the annular solar eclipse of October 15, 2023, as viewed from Capitol Reef National Park in Utah. During an annular solar eclipse, the moon is too far away from Earth to fully obscure the solar disk. During this eclipse, just over 90 percent of the sun's face was blocked.
