Annular Solar Eclipse in Progress, Capitol Reef National Park, Utah

The annular solar eclipse of October 14, 2023, nearly reaches its peak as viewed from Capitol Reef National Park in Utah. During an annular eclipse, the moon is too far away from Earth to fully cover the solar disk, creating a ring of fire effect. When this eclipse reached its maximum point, just over 90 percent of the solar disk was obscured by the moon.
